Pioneer Fun!

All of our hard work paid off!
Nice and creamy!
We can do this!
This is how it all started!
Fourth graders had the opportunity to finish up our pioneer unit this week making butter.  They had fun taking turns shaking the jar and watching the finished product appear.  Some had a "little bread with their butter" instead of a "little butter with their bread!"  It was yummy.  Fourth graders can now make butter for their Thanksgiving feast!

Scott Sorensen (Mountain Man)

(**Before viewing the video above, please go to the end of the blog and silence the music)
We had a great visit from our mountain man, Scott Sorensen.  The fourth graders loved hearing some of his tall tales, seeing his possibles sack and feeling all his animal pelts.  Fourth grade is looking forward to having our own rendezvous and doing many of the activities that mountain men do.

Great Artist for November: Henri Toulouse-Lautrec

For the month of November, we had the opportunity of learning about Henri Toulouse-Lautrec and recreating his "Moulin Rouge Troupe" print.  A big thanks again goes to our art mom Mrs. White who is an outstanding art teacher.  We enjoy having her come and share her expertise on art with us.
